| Lord Howe Island is about 700kms north east of Sydney and the same south east of Brisbane. Lord Howe is a part of Australia, and is an electorate of New South Wales. Lord Howe is World Heritage listed.
| Admiralty House It's hard to imagine a more perfect setting than Admiralty House Convention Centre. Set in the subtropical forests the only distraction is the piping of the Woodhens and sound of the sea. Accommodation for up to 75 delegates theatre style with fully equipped conference and meeting facilities. Round table and breakout groups are also catered for. Equipment includes electronic whiteboard, large mobile whiteboards, fax, copying, email, overhead projection, video player and flipcharts.

| Facts & Figures Sub-tropical Lord Howe is the southernmost tip of the Great Barrier Reef and lies approximately due east of Port Macquarie, about 700km north-east of Sydney and roughly the same distance south-east of Brisbane and just 2 hours flying time from both. Just 11kms from end to end and 2.8km across at its widest point, Lord Howe has a resident population of just 300 and to preserve its pristine beauty only 400 visitors are permitted at any one time. The island was discovered in 1788 by Lt. Henry Lidgbird Ball, commander of HMS Supply en route to Norfolk Island with a shipload of convicts to commence at settlement there.

Mt Lidgbird, one of the towering mountains on the southern end of Lord Howe is named after him, as is Ball's Pyramid, the spectacular 548 metre high rocky outcrop 19 kilometres south of the island. The first known settlement was about 1833 when passing vessels started to call at the island for water. It now has a population of about 320.

| The People Australian citizens, although the Lord Howe Islanders are descended from a mix of early settlers from Australia and US whalers who settled on the island around 1833.
